Ντέμη Κάια-Νάνα Σαχίνη

Η διπλή έκθεση «Το σώμα ως πόλη» της Ντέμης Κάια και της Νάνας Σαχίνη έχει ως επίκεντρο το σώμα, ως κυριολεκτικό και μεταφορικό αντικείμενο, ως πολιτικό αντικείμενο και ταυτόχρονα αντικείμενο πόνου, απόλαυσης και παραμόρφωσης.
Η Ντέμη Κάια αντλεί στοιχεία από την επικαιρότητα και εστιάζει σε αναπαραστατικά σχέδια με τη μορφή εικαστικού ημερολογίου το οποίο σχολιάζει, υπονομεύει και προσφέρει αφηγηματικά επίπεδα στην ειδησεογραφία.
Οι γλυπτικές εγκαταστάσεις και τα σχέδια της Νάνας Σαχίνη παλινδρομούν ανάμεσα στην αφαίρεση και την αναπαράσταση, προτείνοντας καταστάσεις σωματικής και ψυχολογικής αναταραχής.
Οι δύο καλλιτέχνιδες με διαφορετικά υλικά, ύφος και καλλιτεχνική γλώσσα οργανώνουν ένα διάλογο που μεταφέρει τη συνθήκη της πόλης στη συνθήκη του σώματος υπαινισσόμενες την απελευθερωτική δύναμη τόσο της επιθυμίας όσο και της αναπαράστασης.

Demi Kaia’s and Nana Sachini’s exhibition “The Body as City” deals with the notion of the body, both literally and metaphorically, as a political object and at the same time as an object of grief, as an object of pleasure and distortion.
Demi Kaia draws from the everyday news, and focuses on figurative drawings in a form of visual diary that comments on, undermines and offers different narratives to actuality.
Nana Sachini’s sculptural installations and drawings hoover between abstraction and figuration, suggesting various states of psychological and physical disarray.
The two artists by using different medias and artistic language, they form a dialogue that transfers the city conditions into the condition of the body, insinuating the releasing nature of desire and representation.

More Info	ACROBAT READING Το Acrobat Reading είναι μία έκθεση που εστιάζει στον τρόπο με τον οποίο ο θεατής πρέπει να προσαρμόζει τα αντιληπτικά του εργαλεία για να καταφέρει να κοιτάξει τα διαφορετικά έργα τέχνης. Στο ακροβατικό που πραγματοποιείται σε ένα τεντωμένο σχοινί που κρατούν οι καλλιτέχνες. Μία συνεχής αιώρηση μεταξύ αναπαράστασης και μή-αναπαράστασης, αφαίρεσης και ψευδορεαλιστικών προσεγγίσεων, εικόνας και ύλης. Το Acrobat Reading αναπτύσεται γύρω από τη ζωγραφική, την πιο “καθιερωμένη” καλλιτεχνική πρακτική. Ωστόσο αντί για μια ανάλυση της ίδια της ζωγραφικής επιχειρεί να συντάξει ένα χρονικό άρνησης των παραδοσιακών χαρακτηριστικών αυτής της πρακτικής. Οι συμμετέχοντες καλλιτέχνες έχουν επιλεχθεί σύμφωνα με τη συνέπεια που το έργο τους παρουσιάζει για το πρότζεκτ αφήνοντας στοιχεία όπως ηλικία, φύλο και εθνικότητα του καλλιτέχνη εκτός των στοιχείων της έκθεσης. An acrobatic performed on a tight rope pulled by the artists. An endless swing between representational and non-representational attitudes, abstraction and pseudo-realistic approaches, image and matter. Acrobat reading is developed around painting, the most established of the artistic genres. But instead of an analysis of painting itself, it is attempting to write a chronicle of the denial of the traditional characteristics of such an artistic expression. The participating artists have been selected according to their work’s coherence with the project leaving age, sex and nationality to be regarded as irrelevant for the exhibition interpretation. The team, consisting of six visual artists, negotiates the notion of Ego, in order to express its positions in terms of personal data presentation. Separate aspects, concerning the self image, become the main “corpus”, and are being presented by narrations. Some of the stories are confessing the existential anxiety as in the case of Dimitris Foutris, Maro Fasouli and Alexandros Laios; οr even actual facts that have stigmatized life as the armed house robbery, according to Panos Famelis story telling; they may also take the form of one person’s false identity belief, like Nikos Kanarelis who investigates the issue of self identification through the social mechanism of the star system using the persona of an actor of a Turkish soap opera called “One Thousand And One Nights”. Finally, Spyros Nakas provides us with his daily morning routine as a member of the global network community of interactive gaming. The team’s intention is to locate a social aspect through autonomous beliefs that co-exist generating an in situ community, revealing the notion of Ego to its public extent. The project consists of six different and independent readings, digitally reproduced. Each one of them refers to a personal statement on the meaning of the self. The concept is to use an empty space with one entrance. Six pairs of speakers surrounding the exhibition space, one pair for each narration separately will create a sound collage for the visitor. As the visitor proceeds towards each pair of speakers, will be able to listen to each narration individually. Under Construction Group was formed in 2008 and they initially presented the homonymous installation at the Action Field Kodra08 (Thessaloniki). Selected group shows : My Living Room (2008), Zoumboulakis Galleries (2009), OPEN LIDO 12 Lido, Venice (2009), the Municipal Market of Kypseli (2010).
